The iac template provisions a dedicated Infrastructure as Code (IaC) component and associated GitHub repository, pre-configured with Google Cloud projects, APIs, and Workload Identity Federation (WIF) credentials.

Resources Provisioned​

  1. GitHub IaC Repository:

    • Repository named uk-dvt-gcloud-<component_name>-iac.
    • Bootstrapped from the template factory repository uk-dvt-gcloud-git-template-factory-iac.
    • Pre-wired with GCS remote state storage and WIF authentication.

  2. GCP Project(s):

    • Dedicated iac project per environment (development, staging, production).
    • Essential Google Cloud services pre-enabled (Compute, Storage, Cloud Run, Secret Manager, Vertex AI).
    • IAM permissions granting the CI/CD pipeline access to manage project infrastructure.

Provisioning Instructions​

  1. Copy the desired template folder to components/<component_type>/<component_name>/.
  2. Configure config_component.tfvars with the component name, code, team access and other required inputs.
  3. Submit a pull request to uk-dvt-gcloud-core-projects for automated plan and apply.
